The coordinator of the project is the 30-year-old Menhely Foundation in Budapest. Our core belief is that every human being has the fundamental right to feel safe legally, physically, and socially in an apartment, in a town, or in a country
Our main goal is to ensure that no one should be deprived of this fundamental right. We have a wide range of activities supporting homeless people and preventing homelessness. We put a special emphasis on senzitizing mainstream society and empowering homeless people through our street paper, art activities, class discussions, city walks, interactive theater play, living library, etc. The project enables us and our partners to share and richen our experience in awareness-raising, develop new activities and build a new network. Menhely Foundation is a member of FEANTSA.
Besides being the publisher of Fedél Nélkül (‘Without Roof’) street paper sold in 6-8000 copies every two weeks, Menhely Foundation has been running a complex sensitizing program called First Hand Information on Homelessness for 10 years now including various activities: irregular class discussions for secondary school students, WITHOUT TITLE – homeless – adventure – game: interactive theater play, First Hand Information on Homelessness club – training and community of homeless experts by experience, irregular city walk, Living library, community dinners. Fedél Nélkül is a member of the International Network of Street-Papers.
Saint Brother Alberts Aid Society Department in Gdansk, Poland is an independent NGO that helps the homeless people in Pomeranian Region. It is the biggest and the oldest homeless institution in the city of Gdansk since 1989. It aims to enhance social inclusion of excluded people. They put a strong emphasis on labor market re-integration of homeless people and organize several social and cultural workshops, provide accommodation, social assistance, streetworking units, reintegration center for unemployed, run social enterprise, do research, run social campaignes, publish reports, etc. They are a member of FEANTSA and have been taking part in international projects for 15 years. Their wide range of activities and vast experiences enrich the partnership and the quality of the outcomes.
Divaldo Bez Domova’s (Theatre With No Home) main mission is to work with marginalized communities of citizens in an unconventional creative form using the means of theatre, performing arts, dance or singing. It was founded in 2006 in Bratislava. Theatre With No Home provides a platform for presenting social topics that are being overlooked in the commercial artistic sphere. It combines the artistic with the social in order to help tear down stereotypes that marginalized communities face in society.The community of actors and actresses is made up of people without home, physically disabled, people from socially underprivileged communities, social workers, theatre artists and anyone who is interested in theatre. The experience in co-creation with homeless people in art projects and organizing festivals is essential in the project.
The 20-year-old Novy Prostor – based in Prague – is a streetpaper sold by homeless people and people in need in 7 cities in the Czech Republic with circulation 14.000 copies every two weeks. They work with 120 vendors across the country. Novy Prostor is a member of the International Network of Street-Papers. They have various experience in creative and artistic work with vendors such as homeless theater, training workshops, contribution to the street paper, etc. Novy Prostor is an expert in linking homeless people and mainstream society and in providing a dissemination interface through the street paper.
